INVESTIGATION TOOLS - EXAMINING BIAS: REDUCING MENTAL FILTERS TO FIND FRAUD

This session will explore mental filters (e.g., heuristics, biases, and working memory deficiencies) that reduce the ability to detect fraud effectively. As anti-fraud professionals we are taught to consider the unconscious biases of interviewees, but often forget to consider our own biases. Understanding our own cognitive biases and mental filters is important to the quality of our work. Participants in this session test tips and tricks to overcome mental filters on fraud case studies.
